NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE
So this happened … murder…
…followed by peaceful protests. Followed by what the press call “clashes” which, in my experience and observation, are usually police attacks. Here’s one:
I love the way the reporter says “an elderly man was just knocked off his feet” when the effing cop shoved him to the ground with a riot shield. And then the other cop helps him up, because cops are weird. Note that using the passive voice is a favorite news-person trick to establish their “neutral” authority; watch out for it.
And then there’s this: (trigger warning if violence against women is an issue for you)
But why just beat up girls and old people when you can terrorize whole neighborhoods?
The right-wing media is really trying to spin this to be about lawless black hordes looting and burning and all the usual tropes. They somehow managed to make this MAGA-jerk into a victim–
First he shows up at a peaceful protest and threatens everyone with a machete:
Then he leaves and comes back with A HUNTING BOW, threatens everyone with it, and then allegedly SHOOTS INTO THE CROWD:
The crowd, understandably annoyed, roughs him up and sets fire to his car. Rough justice; unlike the victims in the above videos, he totally asked for it. How does the local Fox affiliate spin this? OH POOR WHITE PATRIOT MAN DEFENDING HIMSELF
And if you are now all ‘FUCKDAPOLICE’ and ‘RAGEAGAINSTTHEMACHINE‘, please take some deep breaths, go for a brisk walk, hug a puppy, or do something else for your blood pressure. I’m afraid mine is through the roof and I feel like this:
