ANTIFA IS COMING! ANTIFA IS COMING!
The entire right-wing noise machine — from the dregs of the darknet, up through Fox, right on to the tweet-master in the White House — is trumpeting the idea that “outside agitators,” namely Antifa, are the ones responsible for any violence at the protests.
What you have to remember is, aside from their fever-swamp fantasies of vicitimization, right-wingers have very limited imaginations. When it comes to executing their agenda, they’re pretty clumsy. They just commit crimes and then shout that the other side is doing what they are, in fact, doing themselves. It’s always projection with these people, deliberate or unconscious. Therefore:
EVERY ACCUSATION IS A CONFESSION
This is a very reliable assumption. If they accuse the left of introducing ringers into the protests to trash everything, you can bet that’s exactly what they’re doing. Rumors of plainclothes cops breaking windows, throwing pre-supplied bricks, and attacking bystanders started as soon as the protests did.
This is happening in major cities, but there is also a special effort to target smaller places, like Boise, Idaho and Sioux Falls, South Dakota:
Same story online – blame Antifa – and social media is a huge mess. Twitter is currently removing White Nationalists posing as Antifa, while over at FaceBook, Zuckerberg drags his feet about Trump’s lies, in opposition to the better feelings of his own staff, the tool.
Of course, big cities get their fair share of agents provocateurs. Here’s a video from Boston where the cops appear to be trashing their own car, much to the indignation of young demonstrators:
In my last post I joked about just handing over the functions of a free press to 17-year-olds with cell phones, but that’s beginning to look like a solid plan. And to be perfectly clear: I’m not saying that actual protestors are never, ever doing anything destructive. It’s just that when it comes to property damage, I’m with this kid:
