THE DARK BEFORE THE DAWN

How are we today, fam? Balanced on a knife-edge over a chasm of fascism on one side and plague on the other? Filled with dread and foreboding? I feel ya. But MassMiss is seeing signs of hope, namely:
- Sinister Sinclair Broadcasting was forced to cancel its interview with Dr. Judy Mikovits, star of Plandemic, where she makes “countless baseless accusations” against Dr. Fauci and others
- Oh hey, Portland, you got rid of that pesky invasion? Good on ya, mates.
- Trump tweeted about changing the date of the election and was informed by EVERYONE that he can’t do that
- Trump announces he’s going to ban TikTok and, turns out, he probably can’t do that, either
- Gen Z continues to do us proud — read where a dad discovers how his 11-year-old twins are “dealing” with Trump‘s re-election campaign, via TikTok
- The Trump campaign also faces sinking poll numbers and unstable management as they switch out Parscale for Stepien, plus they have stupid advertising, especially as compared to Project Lincoln’s extremely effective attack ads
- And finally, MassMiss has already predicted a landslide defeat for Trump, so there
And the classic right wing media noise machine is just cranking out the same old stuff like that slightly creepy guy down at the garage or the coffee shop. He repeats the same rant/joke every time, and in the end you’re less offended than just deeply bored. Here’s Rush Limbaugh on July 31, singing the same-old hits of yesteryear: self-pity and reminiscing about his glory days. He harks back to 1992 when he was on the Bill Buckley show sneering at the notion of changing the name of the Redskins, and to that time Sally Jessy Raphael (who?) was mean to him. He gives a few nods to the present, like slamming Dr. Fauci for not supporting using Covid to suppress dissent, but his real interest is in old grievances, most of them personal. Notice how he tries to loop in his listeners with their own grievances — my kids roll their eyes when I talk!:
- Rush Limbaugh: Always Underestimated, Still #1: I’ve always been underestimated… I’m sure many of you in this audience have grown up being underestimated by people in your own family, by friends, by people that know you.
- Trump Approval Rating Jumps Back to 50%: Trump’s job approval has jumped a net five points overnight, and he’s now at 50% approval, 48% disapproval. This is his best day on Rasmussen since February [n.b. Rasmussen leans right and has a C+ rating from fivethirtyeight.]
- .Jordan Corners Dr. Fauci on Protests: Dr. Fauci wants to go nowhere near answering the question about protests. He isn’t going to do it, ’cause Dr. Fauci obviously identifies with the people who are protesting.
- You Were Warned About Multiculturalism Way Back in 1992: You talk about the cutting edge of societal evolution? These bites are both from September 16, 1992 when I did my guest appearance on Firing Line hosted by William F. Buckley Jr.
- The Paul Harvey and Sally Jessy Raphael Story: I think that picture of Sally Jessy Raphael might show up at www.RushLimbaugh.com sometime. I’m pretty sure, actually.
- Chuck Barkley Defends People Who Stand for the Anthem!: This, ladies and gentlemen, is how screwed up we are. The people who stand for the anthem need to be defended.
Sean Hannity is more focused on the here-and-now than Limbaugh, but he’s a lot younger — he probably doesn’t remember half the stuff Rush goes on about. Even so, he can’t leave Obama alone, nor the imaginary past injustices to Trump, insisting that Comey somehow damaged Trump’s candidacy instead of giving Donnie Bone-Spurs a last-minute assist to score the final win.
